The chromophore of the N-substituted arylaldoximes is more absorbing than those of the aryl aldoximes and of their O-substituted derivatives The absorption curves of the N-acyl derivatives of the arylaldoximes are displaced toward the ultraviolet relative to those of the corresponding N-alkyl derivatives and toward the visible relative to those of the oximes.
