The dimeric palladium(I) complex [Pd(mu-Br)tBu 3P]2 was found to possess unique activity for the catalytic double-bond migration within unsaturated compounds. This isomerization catalyst is fully compatible with state-of-the-art olefin metathesis catalysts. In the presence of bifunctional catalyst systems consisting of [Pd(mu-Br)tBu3P]2 and NHC-indylidene ruthenium complexes, unsaturated compounds are continuously converted into equilibrium mixtures of double-bond isomers, which concurrently undergo catalytic olefin metathesis. Using such highly active catalyst systems, the isomerizing olefin metathesis becomes an efficient way to access defined distributions of unsaturated compounds from olefinic substrates. Computational models were designed to predict the outcome of such reactions. The synthetic utility of isomerizing metatheses is demonstrated by various new applications. Thus, the isomerizing self-metathesis of oleic and other fatty acids and esters provides olefins along with unsaturated mono- and dicarboxylates in distributions with adjustable widths. The cross-metathesis of two olefins with different chain lengths leads to regular distributions with a mean chain length that depends on the chain length of both starting materials and their ratio. The cross-metathesis of oleic acid with ethylene serves to access olefin blends with mean chain lengths below 18 carbons, while its analogous reaction with hex-3-enedioic acid gives unsaturated dicarboxylic acids with adjustable mean chain lengths as major products. Overall, the concept of isomerizing metatheses promises to open up new synthetic opportunities for the incorporation of oleochemicals as renewable feedstocks into the chemical value chain.

Reactions of aqueous solutions of <2> (M = Ru, Os) with an excess of either NaOH or Na2CO3 followed by addition of NaBPh4 gave as the major product BPh4 together with some <(eta-C6H6)M(OH)3M(eta-C6H6)>BPh4.Recrystallisation from acetone then gave pure samples of BPh4Me2CO.Reaction of other <2> with NaOH or Na2CO3 gave only the + cations (arene = p-MeC6H4CHMe2, C6H3Me3, C6Me6).Similarly, treatment of <2> with NaOR/ROH and NaBPh4 gave the triplealkoxo-bridged complexes BPh4 (M = Ru, R = Me, Et, Ph; arene = C6H6; M = Ru, R = Me, arene = C6H3Me3, C6Me6; M = Os, R = Me; arene = C6H6).These compounds can also be synthesised by reaction of BPh4*Me2CO with ROH (R = Me, Et).

Mixed piperidine-pentamethylenedithiocarbamate (pip-pmdtc) complexes of Ru(III), Rh(III), Pd(II) and Pt(IV) have been synthesized and characterized. The ruthenium(III), rhodium(III) and platinum(IV) complexes are six-coordinate octahedral, while the palladium(II) complex is four-coordinate square planar as revealed by magnetic moment, IR and electronic spectral data.In Ru(III), Rh(III) and Pt(IV) complexes, coordination occurs through both thiocarbamate sulphur atoms, while in the Pd(II) complex the splitting of the nu(C<*>S) band suggests that only one sulphur atom of the dithiocarbamate is coordinated.Coordination also occurs in all the cases through nitrogen atom of the piperidine base.Ligand field parameters for the Rh(III) complex are reported.

In the present study the behavior of 1-functionalized 2-phenylpent-4-enes in the presence of ruthenium-based metathesis catalysts was investigated. The experimental observations revealed that the outcome of the reaction depends very much on the combination of olefinic partners used in the reaction; only certain combinations delivered satisfactory amounts of unsymmetrical cross-metathesis products, i.e., bifunctional C-8 alkenes.

To study steric and electronic factors that affect the C-H activation of Schiff bases by the complex [Ru(PPh3)2(CO) 2Cl2], systematic spectroscopic analyses were performed for a family of Ru(II) complexes of type [Ru(PPh3)2(CO)L]. Among eight Schiff bases [H2Ln (n = 1-8)], synthesized by condensation of methyl-4-formyl benzoate with 4-aminoacetophenone, 1-naphthylamine, 2-amino-5-chloropyridine, 8-aminoquinoline, semicarbazide hydrochloride, 2-aminophenol, thiosemicarbazide and 2-aminothiophenol, it was observed that the C-H activation was dependent on the kind as well as the position of the coordinating atoms. The C-H activation of the Schiff bases was most facile in the formation of a Ru-CNO configuration followed by Ru-CNS, Ru-CNN, and Ru-CNC configurations, whereas for a Ru-NC(methine) configuration the activation was the slowest. X-ray crystal structures for five cycloruthenated complexes are reported. Detailed electrochemical studies reveals the redox behavior of the complexes and DFT calculations were performed to obtain geometry optimized structure of all other complexes and to get an insight of the electronic spectral behavior.

Cross-metathesis (CM) of conjugated polyenes, such as 1,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene (1) and alpha-eleostearic acid methyl ester (2) with several olefins, including 1-hexene, dimethyl maleate and cis-stilbene as model compounds has been carried out using (1,3-bis-(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)-2-imidazolidinylidene)-dichloro(o-isopropoxyphenylmethylene)ruthenium (Hoveyda-Grubbs 2nd generation, HG2) catalyst. The feasibility of these reactions is demonstrated by the observed high conversions and reasonable yields. Thus, regardless of the relatively low electron density, =CH?CH= conjugated units of molecules, including compound 2 as a sustainable, non-foodstuff source, can be utilized as building blocks for the synthesis of various value-added chemicals via olefin metathesis. DFT-studies and the product spectrum of the self-metathesis of 1,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene suggest that a Ru eta1-allylidene complex is the active species in the reaction.

Application of 37366-09-9, An article , which mentions 37366-09-9, molecular formula is C12H12Cl4Ru2. The compound – Dichloro(benzene)ruthenium(II) dimer played an important role in people’s production and life.

We report a practical one-pot synthesis of dialkylammonium salts of anionic dinuclear ruthenium complexes having chelating diphosphine ligands, BINAPs and DPB, with formula of [NEt2H2][{RuCl(diphosphine)}2(mu-Cl) 3] [2a: diphosphine = 2,2?-bis-(diphenylphosphino)-1,1?-binaphthyl; 6a: 2,2?-bis(di(p-tolyl)phosphino)-1,1?-binaphthyl; 8a: 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)benzene]. Treatment of cationic ruthenium complexes, [RuCl(eta6-p-cymene)(diphosphine)]Cl (4) with a slight excess of NEt2H2Cl (5a) afforded 2a, 6a, and 8a in quantitative yields. Similar reactions with various dialkylammonium salts 5b-f gave the corresponding salts, [NR2H2][{RuCl(diphosphine)}2(mu-Cl) 3]. A one-pot mixture of BINAP or its derivative, [RuCl2(eta6-arene)]2, and NR2H2Cl produced salts of the anionic dinuclear complexes which can be applied as catalysts for the asymmetric hydrogenation of ketonic substrates such as acetol and methyl acetoacetate with high activity and high enantioselectivity. The anionic face-sharing bioctahedral structure of these complexes was confirmed by the X-ray analysis of 8a, which has two hydrogen bonds between two NH of the diethylammonium cation and two terminal chloro-ligands.
